Most of the time it goes on the driveway, since that’s the easiest spot for our driver to place it and for you to load. If your driveway won’t work, we can talk through other spots on your property, including whether boards should go down first to protect the surface underneath.

A dumpster’s weight is spread across its frame and rollers, so damage to a driveway in decent shape is uncommon. If you’re concerned about an older or already-cracked driveway, ask us about putting boards down under the container before we drop it — it’s a quick step that adds real protection.

Plan on roughly the length of the container plus extra room in front for our truck to maneuver and lower it into place. Overhead clearance matters too, especially with the tree cover in a lot of Mobile neighborhoods — let us know if you’ve got low branches or power lines near the drop spot.

No — once it’s placed, leave it where our driver set it. Moving a loaded roll-off yourself isn’t safe and can damage your property or the container. If the spot isn’t working for you, call us and we’ll come reposition it.

If the container sits entirely on your own driveway or private property, you generally won’t need a permit. If it has to sit on a public street or right-of-way instead, the rules depend on whether you’re in an incorporated town or an unincorporated area, so check before you book.

Incorporated towns — Mobile, Prichard, Chickasaw, Saraland, Semmes, Citronelle, Satsuma, Creola, Bayou La Batre, Dauphin Island, and Mount Vernon — each have their own town hall or office that handles it. Inside Mobile itself, that’s the City of Mobile Right of Way department; for the other incorporated towns, start with that town’s own office.

Those are unincorporated communities, so a street or right-of-way placement in those areas falls under Mobile County Engineering’s Right-of-Way Permits office rather than a town hall. They can tell you what’s required for your specific address.

Generally not — placement entirely on private property is the case where a permit usually isn’t required, incorporated town or not. If your property or driveway situation is unusual, it’s still worth a quick call to confirm.

General household junk, furniture, construction and demolition debris, roofing materials, yard waste, and most everyday cleanout material are all fine. If you’re not sure about something specific, ask us when you book rather than guessing.

Paint, fuel, oil, chemicals and solvents, lead-acid batteries, tires, medical waste, and appliances that still hold refrigerant are all off-limits in a standard load. Mobile County Environmental Services and ADEM’s waste division have guidance on where those actually need to go.

No, never, under any circumstance. Asbestos requires a licensed abatement contractor to remove and dispose of it properly — don’t put suspected asbestos material in a roll-off, and tell us ahead of time if a project might involve it.

We’d rather you didn’t. Electronics are best handled through a certified recycler or a collection event instead of the dumpster — ADEM’s recycling program has current guidance, and the Mobile County Recycling Center is a local option worth checking.

A small amount mixed into a general cleanout load is usually fine, but a full load of concrete, dirt, or brick is heavy enough that it needs its own dumpster and weight allowance. Ask about our concrete and heavy debris service when you call.
